Goodbye, Uncle Howard

Tribute

Danny and I have an Aunt Jewel on my mother's side of the family (her older sister) so, when we referred to our Aunt on Daddy's side of the family it was always "Aunt Jewel Dean."

Her kids call her Mom, of course, but Uncle Howard, most other family members and friends just called her "Dean."

Today I want to call her, "The most loving, kind, patient and longsuffering wife I have ever known."

The crippling illnesses that combined over the last nine years of Uncle Howard's life eventually brought his life to an end. But he did not have to face any of his struggles alone. He had many friends and acquaintances who visited him over the years. His church, the FBC of Gardendale, remained faithful and caring to him. His children and grandchildren continued to adore, love and minister to him.

But Aunt Jewel Dean deserves great tribute due to her constant and faithful vigile every day for all of these years. Even with the great care and compassion that was given to him by so many who loved him . . . none compare to the faithful wife of 57 years.

Last night I told her that she should win the all time prize and award for living longer than any other human being with a BAIN!

Aunt Jewel Dean, I know that you and the kids will miss Uncle Howard, but I hope that you will find a great measure of rest, relief and peace of heart, mind and soul after having completed your task with such bravery, courage, faith, grace and distinction.

You're one of my heroes.

God bless you and reward now and forever in Glory for your demonstration of christian devotion. When you said, 'Til death do us part . . . it was your vow.

Well done.
.
